Wink
Ross Maloy was always winking. Not quite.
Ross had a fairly normal life. His 2 friends Abby and Isaac were also normal. Ish. Abby had bright tangerine orange hair and loves Halloween. Ross met Abby in first grade. They let Isaac into their duo, in 4th grade, making it a trio because Isaac was funny and goofy.
Ross also loves drawing. “Doodling” he says, not drawing. His mum was an artist, but she passed away when Ross was 5.
When Ross gets a very rare type of cancer, vision in one eye gets blurry. So he keeps it closed, because it hurts too much.
A doctor tells him the only way to make sure his eyes are ok is to pull out the right eye from its socket. Eyeball and all.
To top it off, Abby is moving to Minnesota, Isaac hasn't talked to Ross in Ages, he has to wear a dumb hat all day long, be teased by school bully Jimmy and when mean memes of him start showing up, Ross doesn't know what to do.
Ross is terrified, until a doctor suggests Laser Treatment so he doesn't have to go through the “Eye Socket Pulling Out Technique”. For 8 weeks, Ross has to go through laser treatment, and there, he meets Frank.
Frank is kind of an adult. He’s in his 30s’ and he plays in a band called RiPe SponGe. With Frank, he takes guitar lessons, and learns that music helps him feel better and with the Talent Show coming up, he’s attempting to win with a talent he just learnt 2 weeks ago.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF THIS BOOK
This was a bit like Wonder (Click to see bookworm’s recommendation)- though Ross wasn't bullied so much and he looked normal-ish. I really loved this book because of the little doodles and teeny comic pages included about “BatPig”!
The doodles were AMazing (I add again) and they matched the mood of Ross. Frank was also a super funny character and Jimmy actually turned out to not be so bad (SPOILER ALERT!)
But the person who made the memes was a TOTAL “twist in the tale!” (I just love twists and turns) I admit, I really did not expect it AT ALL!
This book was amazing for another reason-- at the back it mentioned the author's inputs and it made me love the book even more when it was mentioned that this was a true story in the point of view of the author.
Overall, this was a wow-worthy book and I recommend it. (It’s super funny as well!) For me the rating was 10.9 out of 10. (No, that is a real rating, I insist.)
