Wonder

August Pullman never went to school. He was home-schooled. He did ordinary things; ate ice-cream, played on his XBox, played ball, rode his bike. If he could have a magic lamp the thing he would wish for, was to change his face.

Quote from the book; “I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it's probably worse.

When Auggie is forced to go to 5th grade, he’s bullied straight from the moment he enters. Especially by a boy called Julian.

Auggie makes friends with a boy called Jack and a girl called Summer in his class, but not everyone is nice.

When Julian starts something like “The Cheese Touch” where basically, anyone who touches Auggie has to wash their hands within 40 seconds, before they get The Plague. Auggie’s days at school get worse and worse.

----------------------------

Jack admits he first became friends with Auggie because Mr Tushman (the principal) asked him to. But really, he did like him afterwards.

When Auggie stops talking to him, Jack’s perplexed on why.

--------------------

Summer first became friends with Auggie because she felt sorry for him, sitting all alone on his lunch table.

But she really likes him now and ignores whatever her other friends tell her about him. Summer’s accused of being Auggie’s friend only because she was asked, and then was told about what happened between Jack and Auggie, but the thing is, Jack doesn't know.

When Jack asks Summer why, Summer gives a short answer because she’s worried how Auggie’ll handle not being Jack’s friend, and if he’ll quit school.

--------------------

Via (Auggie’s older sister) feels like their house revolves around Auggie. She’s just lost her best friend Miranda, and’s trying to hide it.

Her mom is always “Auggie’s mom”, never “Via’s Mom” and never spends time with her. She now has no friends and, basically, no family.

Her school play is coming up and she hasn't told her parents. For the first time, she’s embarrassed by Auggie.

She wants to start over. Everyone knows of her as “Sister of the deformed kid.” But she wants to  be known for who she is. Not for her brother.

------------------

All their lives have troubles and problems, but it's up to them on how to solve it.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF THIS BOOK

This book was absolutely, superficially, amazing.

I REALLY really love the different points of view; the perspectives really help to see it from the point of; the sister, friend, sisters, two friends, Julian and others too!

It’s really amazing, I only cry rarely in books, and in Wonder I cried in many parts (I won't tell which-- I'm not giving away ANY spoilers!) but I also laughed in many places.

It seemed like all other problems from other perspectives would seem petty compared to Auggie’s problems but the way it was written made them seem as important.

Another thing I loved was like a tiny epilogue from Julian’s point of view. I could understand what was happening and what he wrote to Auggie and the teachers, and bonus story told to Julian by his Grandmerè

This book was a sad, emotional, happy, moving book and I recommend it. For me the rating was 10 out of 10!
